15th

I went to church today and actually listened well enough to know what the homily was about. It was pretty interesting because the guest priest was from Food for the Poor. He goes on talking about his trip to Haiti, an impoverished third world country, and how the people there only get a bucket full of rice to eat for the entire day and are satisfied with that. Returning back home from his trip, he was walking down the cereal aisle of some supermarket one day and found himself more taken away by what he saw in that aisle than the malnourished people of Haiti. I wondered why. Then he says, "I was astounded. In that aisle were a variety of cereals to choose from. Even my oatmeal that I usually get has 6 different flavors, whereas the people in Haiti only have one option to eat and are grateful."

His homily made me think and realize that many of us, myself included, have taken so many blessings for granted. I talked to my dad yesterday before going to the party and was complaining as to why they're asking for money when he's 30. I made the mistake by saying that he should have a job by now that pays him to purchase his dj equipment. My dad then says, "Because you are able to go to school doesn't mean that we are rich and it gives you the right to belittle others who don't have the same privilege as you do. His family may not have had enough money to support him in going to school in the Philippines. You're lucky." My dad's right and I admit to my fault. My mistake.

It's hella raining outside, I have tons of homework including a stats excel project that I don't even understand how to do, and studying for my bio exam on wednesday. Practices for PCN also begin this week. This week is going to be long, i feel it ):
